Adolescent Counselling

As children begin to mature and naturally turn away from their primary caregivers, adolescence can be a time of inner turbulence. Counselling can support young people to navigate this transition into adulthood and understand themselves better. Using talk therapy and creative arts techniques, sessions are focused on your adolescents’ unique strengths, goals, and values, as well as your parent goals.

Self-esteem and self-confidence

Counselling with young people can support them to understand and accept their inner strengths, values, and interests, which builds self-esteem and self-confidence.

Depression and Anxiety

Sometimes young people may experience periods of low mood, lack of motivation and withdrawal depression. They may also be going through school-based anxiety or social anxiety. If your adolescent has a diagnosis, or is experiencing mental health symptoms, counselling may help them with coping strategies.

Identity

Adolescence can be a confusing time. Young people are understanding their values, who they are, and how they fit into their community. Peer comparison and social media influence can also contribute to this. Counselling can offer a non-judgemental space for young people to navigate this.

Social issues (friendships and relationships)

Making and keeping friends, starting relationships, break-ups, navigating peer group conflict and challenges- counselling can support your young person to stay true to themselves amongst these changes.
